Guest Speak Dr. Yvonne M. Spicer
Mayor, City of Framingham

Dr. Yvonne Spicer made history twice in Framingham as the new city's first mayor and the first African American woman to be elected mayor by voters in Massachusetts. Dr. Spicer overcame a fundraising gap and her relative inexperience in politics to beat her opponent by a comfortable 17 percentage-point margin.
A longtime educator, Dr. Spicer was most recently the vice president for advocacy and educational partnerships at Boston's Museum of Science traveling the country to build capacity for STEM programs in local schools.
Dr. Spicer's leadership and commitment to public service and education is inspiring earning her many honors including selection by the National Aeronautics & Space Administration in 2000 to participate in an aerospace engineering program for technology educators, named Framingham State's Global Education Teacher of the Year in 1993, recipient of the Anti-Defamation League's 1995 "A World of Difference" Teacher Incentive Award, and one of 2009's ten "Women to Watch" by Mass High Tech: The Journal of New England Technology.
Corridor Nine is proud to welcome the City of Framingham's First Mayor as our March guest speaker as we bestow our FIRST BFF LEADERSHIP AWARD to a member whose leadership inspires other females to achieve their full potential.
